Film Processing Services
We are proud to say that we are not a high volume large batch film lab. Everything is hand developed and cared for like if it was our own work. We can customize as much as possible when it comes to development to fit your needs. The vision behind this lab is to provide other artists the resources to get what they want out of their own work. We will do our best to accommodate your specifications and treat your film to the best of our ability. Feel free to drop off, mail in, and purchase film from STUDIO V LABS. After we receive your film we develop, scan, and then email or text you the digital files.

C-41 Color Negative
C-41 film, also known as color negative film or C-41 process film, is a type of photographic film used for color photography. It is the most common type of film used in 35mm and medium format cameras, and it is widely available from various manufacturers. The term "C-41" refers to the standardized developing process used for this type of film.

Black & White
Black and white film, often abbreviated as B&W film, is a type of photographic film used for monochromatic (grayscale) photography. Unlike color film, which records various colors, black and white film captures shades of gray from pure black to pure white. It has a long and storied history in photography and remains a favorite among many photographers for its unique aesthetic and creative possibilities.

How To Get Started:
1. Get your film to us:
Film may be dropped off at Studio V, at BY.E in the Plaza District, or you can mail it in
2. Form time:
In order to correctly process your film we will need as much information possible from you about your the film you are dropping off for processing.
In Studio: Dropping off at Studio V is recommended for first time clients or people that are new to film. Come on in and we will get you set up for developing by asking any necessary questions like is this film expired, did you shoot at the box speed, how do you want your negatives sleeved, etc.
At BY.E in the Plaza District: If the studio is a little too out of the way or you just don’t have the time, we are partnered with By.Everyone so that you can drop-off film closer to central Oklahoma City. You can also buy film out of the Film Fridge Vending Machine! When stopping by BY.E visit the front desk to fill out your drop off envelope. Please make sure to write your name and phone number as legibly as you can since we normally deliver photos via text. Other information to include on your form is what ISO you shot each film at if you did not use the box speed, and if it is expired please tell us the expiration date. We will contact you via text when we have received your film.
Mail in: Please see our Mailing in your Film section below for more details.
3. What’s Next:
When your film intake is complete you will need to prepay for your developing and scanning (if you do not wish to scan your own film). If you used our BY.E drop-off you will be contacted with your total and can pay via Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, or card. Film processing usually takes 2-3 days from intake to delivery, if we are experiencing higher volumes, someone will let you know ahead of time that delivery of your scans may be a little longer than normal. All film is developed by hand and we take the upmost care in making sure your film is touched as little as possible to avoid scratches or excess dust.
4. And After That:
After developing and scanning we will deliver your scans to you with a Dropbox link via text. If you prefer to have your scans emailed to you please inform us at drop off or as soon as your decide. We do not automatically print all your photos - if you would like prints of your photos please visit our Printing page to learn more about that process.
Film is normally scanned using our Noritsu scanner and if you are looking for a specific tone for your film please let us know what your preferences are. (i.e. warm, cool, over exposed etc.) Please keep in mind that if your film is expired we may have to do DSLR scans and that could add to your processing time.
After scanning we will sleeve and store your negatives until you can pick them up or we are happy to ship them to you if you are unable to come by the studio to get them. We offer three different sleeving options to keep your negatives dust and scratch free: normal sleeves, print sleeves (+$2) or long sleeves - check out our FAQ for more information on sleeving options.
Mailing in your Film:
So you can’t drop-off your film in person whether you live in Oklahoma City or out of state - whatever the reason may be we have created an easy (fillable) form so you can get your film developed and we can get the most information about your film possible.
Begin your mail in order by downloading our form. After completion please print this form and include it in the package with your film. If you are unable to access a printer please email your form to scott@scottvophotography.com with the subject “MAIL IN” - your name - the date you mailed your film to us. Mailing in your film requires a lot of information because we want to make sure we process your film correctly and since we are unable to ask the important questions at drop-off please make sure you include as much information as possible. If you are unsure of the information you need to provide please call or text us at (405).655.8027 with your questions - we are happy to help!
If you would like to pre-pay for your film processing please visit our Shop page and add the corresponding “Pre-Pay” item to your cart. Make sure you select the correct item for pre-pay - there are four options that will correspond to your preferences. Please note that you must match the number of rolls you are mailing in to the quantity of items in your cart in oder to correctly pay for your mail in processing.
When your package is delivered to the studio we will send you a confirmation text to let you know that we have received your film. This text will include the date we received your package, the total of your order, payment options and any other questions we may have.
Please note that the estimated 2-3 day processing turnaround only applies after the intake of your film, and after payment has been received.
FAQs
-
Box speed is the ISO the manufacturer recommends shooting your film at. You can read it on the side of the film box or film canister and it's usually in the name of the film as well (for example, Portra 400 has a 400 ISO box speed, which means that Kodak recommends shooting it at 400 ISO).

2-3 Business Days
*Timeline can change anytime due to traffic and the amount of film sent. We strive to get your scans to you as fast as we can with the upmost quality
-
Expired film needs to be pushed one stop for every decade past it’s expiration date. By pushing we must take special care and added developing times. Expired film may also take longer to scan because the negatives are usually quite dark and require extra editing to produce a balanced photo. Depending on how your film was stored and shot some negatives may be too ddark or blank Shoot expired film at your own risk
-
Your film negatives will be sleeved and stored here till you are able to pick them up in studio or you decide for us to mail them to you. There is a $10 shipping fee. We suggest you wait for your negatives to accumulate before requesting a return.
-
We sleeve your film to protect and archive the negatives. Sleeves protect against acid, oxidation, dust, static, and scratches. You never know when you will want your film scanned again in the future so sleeving is always recommended to have your negatives properly protected.
-
We typically have three options:
Normal : matte archival sheets with your negatives cut into strips of 4 frames.
Long : archival long sleeves (uncut)
Print File : Archival binder ready sleeves where your film is cut into strips of 6 frames. (This is an upcharge of $2 per roll)

Payments can be made via Venmo, CashApp, Zelle or CC. Credit Card payments that cannot be made in studio will be invoiced to your email and a credit card authorization form will need to be filled out.
